McMaster, Cunningham win primaries, will compete for governor in general election

Gov. Henry McMaster will deal with previous U.S. Rep. Joe Cunningham in the November election for governor just after the two beat out challengers on both sides of the partisan ticket.
If he wins, McMaster, the Republican incumbent, would be moving into his third phrase, and his next complete term as governor.

Cunningham, a Democrat who represented SC’s Very first Congressional District, faced four candidates in the Democratic principal.
Cunningham thanked a single of his opponents, Sen. Mia McLeod, in his speech Tuesday night for putting herself ahead and for the spirited discussion.
“Even while we are rivals we’re now on the very same staff,” Cunningham reported.
“South Carolina, it’s time for us to move forward alongside one another, to flip the website page on the past and produce a new chapter for our point out. Let us grab that pen with each other and go make background.”
According to the Associated Push, if McMaster wins in November and completes the phrase, he will become the longest-serving governor in South Carolina heritage.

Incumbent Attorney General Alan Wilson has been projected by The Related Press as the winner of the Republican major for that business office.
In early balloting, Wilson led his opponent Lauren Martel by a margin of 68 % to 32 p.c.
Wilson who to start with won the business office in 2010, will operate unopposed in the Nov. 8 general election.
SC Secretary of Condition
Hammond cruises in Republican principal
Incumbent Secretary of Condition Mark Hammond has been projected by The Associated Push as the winner of the Republican principal for that workplace.
In early balloting, Hammond led by a margin of 78 percent to 22 p.c.
Hammond, who 1st gained the workplace in 2002, will facial area Democrat Rosemounda Peggy Butler in the Nov. 8 typical election.
