Mets’ Max Scherzer raves about Nationals’ Juan Soto
CHICAGO — If Mets brass needs a suggestion on one of Max Scherzer’s previous superstar teammates from Washington, he’s inclined to give it.
But Scherzer told The Submit on Sunday he isn’t about to get emotionally hooked up to the notion the Mets could go after Juan Soto in a trade.
“That is the entrance office’s job, but all I can convey to you is he is terrific,” Scherzer said before the Mets performed the Cubs at Wrigley Field. “He’s a terrific human being, a terrific teammate. I actually appreciated taking part in with him and I can only say superior issues about him.”
Soto a short while ago turned down the Nationals’ agreement extension supply of $440 million about 15 a long time and can be had in a trade, according to The Post’s Jon Heyman.
Scherzer — who like Soto is represented by Scott Boras — indicated he is not stunned Soto turned down the proposal, primarily amid reviews the Lerner family is on the lookout to offer the Nationals.
